In our Parish Center worship space we have an old friend with a new face, a beautiful colorful look. It was at the doorway of the Religious Ed. Entrance since the first days of the opening of the center, but few even noticed it, in their coming in and going out. It is the image of the Holy Family, of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Since I came here over eight years ago, I have admired the piece of art, but thought it needed something…color. And also a new place for better attention.
Before the ‘White Jesus ‘ controversy and before the evil attacks on Christian Art, I had asked an artist from Danville to paint it and prepare it for rightful devotion in our Parish Center. Mrs. Ana Arnabar has done so, in a most impressive way. I asked that she not paint the image of the three Jews with blue eyes and blond hair. I asked that Jewishness be evident in the painting. She has done a beautiful work in honor of the Holy Family, our J.M.J.
In this 2020 Year, a time of great stress and worry and fear let us come to Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Let us trust that they know our needs that they love us and will bring us the Father’s Blessing, just as they received the gifts of the Holy Spirit throughout their earthly struggles. May God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit be praised in all the blessings that come to us through Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
